It’s More Than Just an Initial

Yesterday, I was asked if my name was correctly and completely spelled in the letter sent to me because it will reflect on my new identification card. I replied with, “My middle name or initial is missing.”

Since I was kinda eavesdropping, the man on the other table, who undergoes the same questioning as me, asked, “Hindi niyo ba talaga nilalagay ang middle name? (Do you really intend not to place the middle name?)”

Hearing myself and the man’s reply, I can say that you will know a person’s love for his/her mother when he/she demands for that middle name or initial. I know it is not much proof, but it is somehow significant.

I know it is only a single letter in my name, but that means so much to me as a child of my mother. That letter is the only visible thing in my name that proves who my mother is.

I remember a College Professor who once said, “Do not ever forget to write your middle initial. It’s a sign of respect and appreciation to your mother.” And I believe him, because it is true.

“Do not ever forget to write your middle initial. It’s a sign of respect and appreciation to your mother.”

My mother carried me in her womb for nine months, painfully gave birth to me, and sustains me with all my basic needs and event wants for 27 years now. Isn’t it only fitting that I would want to recognize her as part of me?

Honor Your Father and Your Mother. This is one of the 10 Commandments. If I honor my father by keeping and protecting his name, then it is only right that I demand to have my mother’s name with me even if it is just a single letter. It may only be an initial, but it means so much when you really love your mother.

I love you, Ma!

Not needing more than that…

A note from a prayer of a thirteen-year old boy for a young girl’s troubled heart:

“Lord, I pray that she will say in her heart that, ‘Jesus died for me and I don’t need more than that’.” – Migo Austria

So Ladies (Girls and Women), don’t go head over heels when you simply hear the words, “I love you” because the best and perfect love is not found in the spoken romantic words but on the cross with a bleeding Man, who opened His arms wide in forgiving us, wanting us, and loving us despite all the hurts and brokenness He suffered as the cost of His love for us. Know that no man can do that or will do that for you, aside from that man named Jesus of Nazareth. His love for us is more than enough.

So, if someone you like or love doesn’t like or love you back, it doesn’t mean that you are not desirable or unlovable. Remember that you will never be unlovable, for you are the daughter of Love. Love, Himself, even died for you and conquered death to be with you for all eternity.

And, you will never be unloved because the heart of Jesus Christ never stopped beating for you, in desire, mercy and love that is greater than anyone or anything in this world.

Awhile ago, as I had my morning devotion, I suddenly felt tears flowing down my eyes. I thought today is just another day of tears with Jesus until I found myself weeping already then I remembered what historians said about the apostle Peter, and the reason why he wept most of the time. Peter’s answer on why he weeps was “Desiderio Domini” which means “I dearly long to be with my Lord.” And, as I weep today with Jesus, I asked Him a lot of Whys?

I asked Him:  Why do You have to die?
He said:  Because my death will give you life. (John 3:16)

I asked Him: Why me?
He said: Because I love you. (Romans 5:8)

I asked Him, Why do You love me?
He said: Because that’s who I am. (1 John 4:8)

As I closed my Bible and wiped the tears that wets my face, I said to myself, “Desiderio Domini.” I moved on and started my day then I realized that today is the start of the so-called Love Month, and my Ultimate Lover (Jesus) just made me cry reminding me how much He loves me.

I’m not weeping anymore, but now I feel so LOVED!

Jesus, Why are you so sweet? ♥
